This addition and remodeling to an existing home on Lake Johanna has large areas of glass to capture an expansive view of the lake and daylight deep into the rooms. Bracketed overhangs and trellis work, stone, stucco, terraces, planting beds, and new open entry porch, significantly change the entry and outside of the house. The interior rooms have a unique spatial volume with a unified layout. Careful detailing ties the new and existing together while enhancing the clean lines of the original, architect designed house.
An initial master planning process identified the short and long term goals for the house and site, and determined how to complete the project in phases. Phase 1 included remodeling and expansion of the entire lower level, and the kitchen, dining and living spaces on the upper level. Phase 2 stabilized the lake shoreline and created landscaped walks, terraces and plantings between the house and lake. Phase 3 will remodel the private bedroom and bath spaces and complete the exterior changes.
