Peter Rabbit's Teahouse was built in 1925, the year that Arthur's mother turned 12. It was her cabin, placed a short distance from her parent's cabin. She could spend the night in it if she wished, and felt brave! Her parents started coming to the site about 1915. They would take the train from Nebraska to Nisswa, then a horse and wagon to Pequot Lakes. Her little cabin was called the "One-Step Inn," because of the one step up into the cabin. The overall structure, flooring, door and windows (3 different sizes) are original. The siding and roof match the other buildings that we designed on the site. The name changed to Peter Rabbit and is furnished to fit the theme. A local artist, Jeff Krietz, created the stand to display a 1930's tea sign.
The Teahouse is one of three projects completed at the site. The other two projects are the new construction of Guest Cottage, and the remodeling of Main Cottage.
