With the senior population continuing to grow at exponential rates, there is an urgent need to provide affordable housing and services for seniors, particularly those suffering from memory loss issues.

Signe Burckhardt Manor is a 7 story, 42 unit residential building that serves elderly residents. Two assisted care floors were created with special apartments and support spaces for dining, bathing, and a nurse attendant station for residents who need care and security due to memory loss. Upgrades to the fifty-year old building were done while occupied, including:

  • Replacing plumbing piping, lighting, fire protection, and commercial kitchen mechanical systems
  • Exterior window replacement
  • Common space renovations
  • Accessibility improvements to individual apartments
