This Minnesota-based private company sought to expand its flight business operations (FBO) and enhance its corporate image. The large addition fits seamlessly with the existing hangar, which received a much-needed facelift. The new exterior has a strong presence of brick, metal, and glass at the lobby to welcome visitors.
The needed changes for the 13,000 square-foot facility were complex. The existing offices were small, outdated, and separated from the hangar and maintenance area by a runway. The new design includes private offices, training, maintenance, and support spaces for staff, and a large welcome area and lounge for travelers.
Because of its airport site, the project had numerous building and utility restrictions. McMonigal Architects worked closely with multiple governing agencies, and met strict and detailed Metropolitan Airport Commission’s regulations.
