When the owners asked us to help them with their renovation, we realized that improving this building could positively impact both their dental practice and the surrounding neighborhood. Challenges included remodeling the 100+ year old dark and dilapidated building with earlier additions on multiple levels. The extensive wish list was limited by a small construction budget.
To lower costs, building elements were carefully reused wherever possible. Selective remodeling opened up interior spaces to natural light. Corrugated steel and bright colors were introduced to enliven the façade. The entry is now accessible and interior ramps connect multiple levels. The new spaces are warm, inviting, comfortable, and functional. With careful design, the tired, neglected building was dramatically altered for the practic and has given new life to the neighborhood.
